For a number of reasons, including doing my bit for the housing crisis, I have taken on two borders. It is not in the interest of making money and therefore payments from the borders are very low at $150 per week each for this they receive full board and full use of all household facilities including furniture, linen, consumables and food. The upside for me is I can travel at any without worrying about getting house sitters to water plants and feed animals. That is why I am not interested in making money from it but I need to know whether it is considered as income and if so what receipts I need to keep because as I said there is very little (if any) net gain. All board paid goes straight to housekeeping for food, consumables and other expenses.
