Hi, I know this question has been answered and that in order for this to be solved we need to contact the ATO. I HAVE TRIED and no luck at all. It’s an easy mistake to do but to reverse it is so hard. I want to lodge this year and I can’t because I work 9-5 and if I finally have time to call they will just hang up. Can you please offer a better solution other than to contact you? I would rather do it manually myself if there was an option to do so.

Hi @watermelon23,

You will have to reach out to us directly. Phone lines are busier at the moment due to tax time, but I'd recommend phoning out individual enquiries line at different times throughout the day.

You can also consider either:

  • using a registered tax agent to lodge this year, or
  • returning a paper tax return.

Once you lodge this year's tax return, future tax returns should generally be generated automatically, unless you've previously advised us that you won't need to lodge future returns.
