  • On 4 July 2023 I made a personal contribution to my super.
  • Then I met a super condition of release and in mid-August 2023. At this point, I withdrew about 15% of the money in my super as a lump sum.
  • Then I moved my super to the retirement phase.
  • Unfortunately, I forgot to submit an 'intent to claim a personal deduction notice' (i.e., for the amount contributed as per the first bullet point above) to my super fund before moving my super from the accumulation phase to retirement phase.
  • My super fund says that I can no longer submit the notice even though the contribution was made when my super was still in accumulation phase.
  • It there any way I can remedy my situation?

Thanks for any help.

No - not for the contribution made in July.

To claim a tax deduction, you would need to make a new contribution - then lodge the NoI before starting a pension with that money.
