I will be inheriting a share portfolio shortly from my father's estate. I thought it would be easier to have them transferred to my joint trading account with my spouse rather than amy individual account. However, I have been told that this may incur additional fees and could also trigger a CGT event as it would be considered that I gifted the shares to my spouse as I inherited them, not both of us. Is this right and would be easier just to transfer them into an account in just my name?
