I’ve been informed that the ATO has lost my notification of deceased person, sent in May, and verified as having been delivered by Australia Post.
My question - is there anyone from the ATO reading this with enough seniority willing to adopt a common sense approach, and simply go directly to the Victorian Supreme Court’s website and view the original grant of probate.
This document is straight from the horse’s mouth. It does not need to be certified, and is not issued without a death certificate. Making it available online is obviously intended to reduce bureaucracy.
It is dead easy to view, once the relevant references are provided by the executor.
Instead, I am left having to chase up certified copies, post them off again, and hope that the same thing does not happen again.
Please, please, ATO, let’s save time and effort for both me and your staff by viewing the grant of probate directly on the Supreme court’s website.
Is there anyone that can send this up the chain of command to solve this problem?
