I recently started a new job and on my TFN paperwork I ticked wanting to claim the tax free threshold as well as changing it in MyGov. As my old job was still listed under Employment and could not be removed, I changed that one to not claiming as that’s what it said to do online but I am still being taxed a large amount compared to the other workers. It’s taxing me like my new job is a second job instead. What would I have done wrong for this to be happening? Thank!

Ticked the wrong box - assuming that you have ceased the old job.

You should have let employer set your TFN status.
