Hi,

I undertook a 6 month course last year that directly relates to improving my skills in my current job and could also lead to improved income in the same/similar role in the future.

The course was from mid-May 2022 to November 2022, and I paid for the course in full in May 2022. I didn't claim this on last years' tax return, am I able to claim anything for the 2022/23 financial year?

Thanks.

Hey @llm12,

As you paid for the course in the 2022 financial year then that's the year you would need to claim the expense. To be eligible the course you studied needs to have a sufficient connection to earning your employment income.

As you've already lodged last year's tax return then you would need to lodge an amendment for that year.
