Hi there! I have submitted my MES (medicare entitlement statement) request 8 weeks ago and it is still in progress. I have also called Services Australia and they mentioned that it may take a few more weeks for them to finish processing.
If I still do not receive my MES by 30th October (a day before the due date of the tax return), can I proceed with filing my tax return even if the MES is still in progress?

This is our latest advice about delayed MES statements.
We're letting you know to lodge your tax return by the due date as though you have your MES.
When you receive your MES, if it is different to what you lodged in your tax return, you will need to lodge an amendment. See our website for more info about the MES delay.

We’ve been made aware that Services Australia is experiencing processing delays for their MES applications.
We’re working to assess the impact of the delays and will provide advice on what to do on our website in the coming days.
Tax returns are due on the 31st of October but please hold tight for now and we'll update you here when we can!
