Case:

An Australian based company is selling a digital product through its website. All the marketing is handled by a Dubai based entrepreneur.

All the sales made by Australian company is through SHOPIFY.

We are aware that any sales made to Australian customer is subject to GST.

Question:

  1. Sales made to Overseas customer (UK, INDIA, USA etc) is subject to GST?
  2. Expenses paid for marketing whether deductible for Australian company and what supporting document is required to claim the expense?

Hey @JASAVS

Answer:

1.      No, as the good/service would not be connected with Australia it would be considered GST-free

2.      Generally, as evidence you would need a receipt or similar document from the supplier.

Thanks for reply.

But just to elaborate on the above question, the customers from all over world comes to our client's website through Internet search and purchase a subscription. The website automatically generates a GST tax invoice because it does not know whether the customer will pay in USD or AUD. So in that case also the sale made to customer paying in USD will be Gst free?

And whether it has any connection with EDP?
