Hi.

Up until now, I've always filed the tax return by myself, without an accountant.

However, this year I received dividends from ETF which includes Franking Credits.

Their FY tax return report includes many different fields:

  • Gross Interest 10L
  • Resident Withholding Tax 10M
  • Unfranked dividend 11S
  • Franked amount 11T
  • Franking credit 11U
  • Share of net income from trusts, less net capital gains, foreign income and franked distributions - primary production income 13L
  • Share of net income from trusts, less net capital gains, foreign income & franked distributions 13U
  • Franked distribution from trusts 13C
  • Other deductions relating to non-primary production income 13Y
  • Share of franking credits from franked dividends 13Q
  • Share of credit for foreign resident withholding amounts (excluding capital gains) 13A
  • Share of credit for tax amounts withheld 13R
  • Net capital gain 18A
  • Total current year capital gains 18H
  • Credit for foreign source income 18X
  • Assessable foreign source income 20E
  • Other net foreign source income 20M
  • Australian franking credits from a New Zealand franking company 20F
  • Foreign income tax offset 20O
  • Early stage venture capital limited partnership: current year tax offset T7K
  • Early stage investor: current year tax offset T8L
  • Other refundable tax offsets: Exploration credits T9P

So, how do I translate all these fields into the 4 questions on ATO form for Dividends?

  1. Total unfranked amount
  2. Total franked amount
  3. Total franking credits
  4. Total TFN amounts withheld

Please advise which fields I should use to answer these 4 questions, and what's the correct formula to use.

Thanks!

You need to look at the ETF tax statement and tax guide.
