Hi ATO Community,


We applied ABN/TFN for a partnership where both partners are trusts. In the associate's section, it requires us to put in ACN as the partners. We included the ACN of the trustee companies and it automatically shows the name of the trustee company. Currently, the partnership registration is showing "X PTY LTD & Y PTY LTD".


Question: Can we change the name to "The trustee of X trust & The trustee of Y trust" in ATO under the update name section? The partners are the same just the way of naming it.


If not, what are the ways to change it?


Appreciate any guidance on this issue.

Hello @Abking,


The partnership is usually named after the partners in the partnership. Under the associates section of the ABR does it state the trusts and not the trustee companies. If so the partnership was set up wrong. If the trusts are on the ABR as the partners then you can use the methods listed under update business details to get the name changed.
