Hi,
I am an employee who just salary packaged an EV. Up until very recently I was told by my financing company that at-home electricity couldn't be claimed but public charging station costs could. Well, I used a public station for the first time this week and made the claim but got this response, "I can confirm we have received the electricity claim submitted in your portal, however we no longer accept receipts for charging costs. Please note "THE COMPANY" now reimburse electricity based on the kilometres driven. Could you please provide the opening and closing odometer readings, along with the dates and we will reimburse you accordingly.
I have driven 1780km, and they are telling me they will reimburse me $74.76 so that would mean a cents per km rate of 4.2cents per km.
I can't find this on the ATO government website. It seems that deduction rules are changing every month. I don't know whether to believe them that this is standard practice or what to believe.
