I just complete tax return FY 23 for my company and want to distribute dividend to shareholder.

Can company issue a dividend to share holder in FY 2023 with payment date is Oct 23?

Or payment must be made by 30 Jun 23.

Thanks.

Dividends need to declared by directors minute/resolution prior to payment.

Usually the declaration is dated a day or 2 before dividend is paid - or credited to member loan account.

If the dividend is credited to a member loan account, then it is deemed to have paid to the member on that date.

You need to get proper advice on company admin.

@Bruce4Tax Thanks for your reply.

Will do a meeting minute, dividend statement etc..

As at 30 Jun 23, there is no loan between shareholders and company at all.

The dividend will be recorded in FY 23 as liability, dividend payable, then company pay out in Oct 23.

My question is whether company can pay dividend in FY 23 and member declare that dividend income in TR 23.

Thanks.

That requires a minute or resolution prior to 30/06/2023.

Dr Dividend Cr Dividend payable

A bit late to do that now - cannot endorse back-dating documents here.

Best do now, to pay in October.
