I recently had to make a new MyGov account because I got a new phone number. I've been trying to link my ATO to my MyGov account however all I have is my TFN and bank details. Im a casual worker and get paid on a weekly basis and so I dont have a financial summary but get weekly payslips. I'm going to ring mygov to get a linking code however im worried that any information that has been sent to ato from my employer wont be accessible as I haven't been logged in. This is my first job and haven't had to do anything tax related before and don't really know what im doing. Any assistance on how to link and get tax information would be very appreciated.

Will my work summary be available on ATO when i finally link it?

Hi @LVC__10_,


Your halfway there by creating a new myGov account.


If you haven't lodged a tax return before and cannot answer 2 questions about your tax return. Then you're right you will need to speak to us and obtain a linking code.


If your employer is reporting your weekly wages through Single Touch Payroll (STP) which they should be by law.


Then your income statement will be available and tax ready for you to use straightaway once you have linked. If you're going to lodge your tax return yourself this information is usually prefilled.
