My question is regarding clients who we are currently tax agents for but are expanding their entity structure and do we need to still complete the client to agent linking process. For example, if a client is currently a sole trader and is changing their structure to a Trust and the Tax agent is applying for the ABN on the clients behalf - do we still need to follow the Client to Agent linking process?

Hello @NicW,

The simple answer is yes. If you are accessing a new account for a client or expanding your authorisations with them then you will require to go through the nomination process. So when they create a new entity like a trust once the application goes through they will need to access it via ATO Online Services for Business and complete the authorisation for you.
