I have a trust with a corporate trustee that is NOT on the ABR and therefore does not have an ABN - but is a taxpayer.


I have now changed accountants, and have been made aware that I need to make this appointment online and was directed to RAM - which can not find my trust as it is not on the ABR.


I then spoke to the RAM team, who couldn't help me add / appoint the new agent and I can not find anything relating to this trust / corporate trustee in mygov.


How do I access the online records for my trust so as to appoint the new tax agent? The accountant can not help as its an ATO issue.

Also I have tried calling the ATO business number however kept getting hung up due to peak demand in calls.

If you can't link in RAM to be able to do the agent nomination process, then you'll need to speak with our business area so that we can do this for you.


We're experiencing high call volumes and we do ask that you persevere, and someone will be able to help you. We're available from 8am-6pm local time.

Hi GMan_22, did you manage to find a solution for this issue. I have exactly the same dilemma. I have a trust without an ABN. I have changed accountant and I was advised to contact RAM team to appoint the new agent. The RAM team could not help me. The accountant can not help me because it is an ATO issue. How did you manage to appoint the new agent ? Can anyone provide some insight on this issue and a possible solution please ?

Hi @BAKhtar,


We do have instructions on our website regarding how to nominate your registered agent.


Before you begin steps 1 and 2 you must be the principal authority.


If you have a trust entity, the trustee is the principal authority. This would be the director of the corporate trustee.


Currently trusts need to be manually set up in Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM) and in some cases the principal authority access may only be valid for 12 months.


It's worth the principal authority logging into RAM with their myID first, to check their current accesses.


If the director (Corporate trustee) can't gain access, it's best to call RAM and ask to be manually re-linked as the principal authority.


Once this is done the principal authority should be able to add a new agent.


They can also appoint others in RAM and give them certain access levels.
