A few years ago, I moved out of Australia and cancelled my Australian phone number. What a mistake before backing up everything and updating all necessary companies before cancelling or getting a new number!

I also updated my preferences as 'Online Notifications' at ATO when I was in Australia.

I finally am able to get another Australian phone number while I'm overseas, however, myGov app is gone with the old phone, and cannot login to my online services due to a generated code by myGov app.

I could create a new myGovId account, and tried to link ATO Online to my new myGovId, however, ATO services requires me to provide a number from one of Australian offices (ATO NOA, Centrelink payment, Medicare, etc.. )Another number issue!...

As I selected to receive ATO communication online, all letters goes into myGov inbox which I have no access.

I tried to contact ATO Helpdesk and they connected me after a long wait over the phone, she asked me similar questions, and numbers again! I have not received any payment from Centrelink, or Medicare letters during the time when I was overseas, thus I have no letters yet to provide a number.

ATO Helpdesk lady also recommended me to apply for a new TFN, and I would get the same number by creating a new account. however, I received a response immediately when I tried to apply for a new TFN, stating that I already have a TFN and account.

I have/know all my passwords for myGov account, and newly created myGovId account. However, I cannot login or connect ATO online services due to not accessing to my online letters.

I checked the myGov Helpdesk number for overseas, however, that number does not work from overseas!

+61 1300 1MYGOV (1300 169 468)

I don't know how to access my ATO account, or how to link it!

Hello there @yilmazke,

When you create a Mygov account and try to link it to the ATO, you'll need to prove you are who you say you are. If you can't answer the questions on MyGov you need to call for a linking code. This is so we can identify you on the phone and make sure we are linking the right person to your account.

You should look at our how to create a MyGov account and link your tax and super webpage. Because you'll be calling from outside Australia you should use the international number. You can find this on our contact us page.
