I had to pay additional tax in 2022/23 as insufficient PAYG tax was deducted from my two PAYG income streams. It was caused by having two income payers that allowed the tax free threshold before removing tax. My accountant said that I will now have to pay tax in advance for 2023/24 unless I submit a variation. This issue in PAYG will not occur in 2023/24 as I only have one income stream deducting PAYG tax. Hence, I don't want to vary PAYG (either upwards or downwards) - I just want to leave the PAYG collection as it is but without having to prepay additional tax. What is the correct variation form for me to use?

HI @PandanusAndy

PAYGI only applies to instalment income, mainly business or investment income. Not your wage as a salary or income earner.

You may not meet the rules to be automatically entered in.

Check out our further info to answer all your questions. ‘How will I know if I’ve been automatically entered into PAYG Instalments?’ and ‘How do I exit PAYG Instalments?’

If you're wanting to vary your PAYGW with your employer, check out our further info on Varying your PAYG withholding.
