One of the questions for my visa application is whether I have ever had any outstanding debts to the Australian Government.

This year one of my banks omitted to pre-populate my interest earned. I did not realise this until after I have already lodged my tax return. Since then, I have amended my 2023 tax return and paid the tax owed before the due date.

Will I be deemed to have had outstanding debts to the Australian Government?

Hi @janeaustenluv,

A tax bill becomes a debt if it remains unpaid after the due date. Since you paid in full before the due date - no, you haven't had an outstanding debt. 😊
