Hi,
I am an international student and I am wondering if I could claim my tuition fees for a course related to the field I am working at. So before I applied for a student visa in Australia, I am working as an accountant in my home country then I decided to study MBA here in Australia which will satisfy the following conditions:
- the course maintained or improved a skill or specific knowledge required for your then current work activities, or
- you could show that the course was leading to, or was likely to lead to, increased income from your then current work activities (not just in Australia but also when I go back to my home country).
Now, after I moved to Australia, I got a job in an accounting firm, which is the same field to the work that I have before I got my student visa.
The question is, can claim my tuition fees (for MBA) as work-related self-education expense given that I met the conditions above and I am already working in that field before I got my student visa?
