My son is trying to link the ATO to his MyGov account. He needs a linking code as this will be the first time lodging a tax return. He has been calling the ATO for two weeks, multiple times a day and keeps receiving the message 'Our hotline is currently at peak and unable to take my call……please try again later'. When can he expect to be able to talk to someone?? Is there another way to get a linking code? It is extremely poor service!

We try to answer every call as quickly as possible.
The only way to obtain a linking code is by calling us, we recommend calling early in the morning as our lines tend to be less busy.
Have you tired linking using information? Have a read of the information you need to link myGov to the ATO which may help with linking without a code.
