As a salesperson, If I receive a gift card from a vendor or supplier (NOT my employer) as a reward what tax implications is there for myself and my employer ?

It depends on the nature of the gift card.


The gift card won't be taxable if it's a true gift given voluntarily and not in exchange for goods or services.


In other words, it's not taxable if it's an act of gratitude, appreciation or friendship.


If it's given with the expectation of receiving good or services in return, it will be taxable.
