We are planning to live full time overseas on a yacht. We will not have a permanent home in Australia, but we will be moving our permanent home (our boat) from country to country. Are we still a resident for tax purposes?

Hi @tdm,

Your tax residency isn't something we can work out for you. It depends on a few factors, not just physical location.

Generally, if you're leaving Australia permanently you would be a foreign resident for tax purposes from the date you left.

We have a handy tool to help you work out your tax residency. There's also residency tests you can use to work it out yourself.

Happy travels! ⛵
