I have a new client whereby the existing accountant has full access, and I only require activity statement access.
Is there a way for my client to nominate me only for activity statement access? When they try, they are unable to add another agent, as their existing agent is already present.

Yes they can have two agents on the account at the same time. One at the client/tax return level giving that agent access to the whole account and one on the activity statement side for business only. The client doesn't nominate which account, just that they want to add the agent and then inform the agent of nomination. It is the agent that determines the part of the account they are intending to be added on. The agent checklist for client to agent linking is rather helpful if you require more information. The main thing to remember is that you need to use the correct identifier when adding the client. The TFN for the income tax account and ABN for the activity statement account.
