As a foreign investor, I need to authorise my solicitor to apply FIRB on my behalf. To do this, I need to register myself in ATO’s Online Services for Foreign Investors. I followed the steps outlined in ATO website however I was struck by PAB.DE.009.
I called ATO and the FIRB support number multiple times last week from overseas; two calls lasted 2 hours each with no resolution. Tried calling again this week to the Client Identity Team as per some answer in this forum and they advised they cannot verify my valid passport.
I have a valid Tourist Visa with the same passport number. VEVO check shows that visa has my current, valid passport. However, ATO system cannot verify the existence of this passport.
Tried calling Dept of Home Affairs but cannot find the right option to choose from the voice menu. Please specify phone number of the Home Affairs and which option to choose from the voice menu if that is the way to go.
If ATO cannot verify my passport using their computer, can I send a certified copy of my passport as proof of its existence and validity?
Please help.
