Medicare Levy not exempted

Hi Team,

I have a question regarding the notice of assessment. My tax agent lodged the tax return and I have already paid $827.

But after that, I received the notice of assessment saying that I still have to pay $1518.64 which says Medicare Levy.

Me and my wife are exempted from Medicare and my tax agent produced the documents to ATO when he lodged for Tax (which were received from Services Australia). Why is ATO charging me for the Medicare?

I doubt whether you will get a definitive answer to that on the limited information you have provided. I would suggest you speak to your tax agent. As part of their service they should answer any tax queries you have.
