For Online services for foreign investors. I know the steps< https://www.ato.gov.au/online-services/foreign-investors/accessing-online-services-for-foreign-investors>. I have done Step 5: Complete the foreign investor registration. I used myGovID app to access. And exactly followed:

  • Who are you representing? – select Myself to register yourself as a foreign investor
  • Have you previously interacted with the ATO? Select Yes
  • Do you have a linking code from the ATO?    
    • select No then Next

At the Link to ATO screen, read and accept the terms and conditions then select Next.

A message displayed:

It is a loop. I have made many phone calls to ATO, but no one know why and just ask me to register. I have done the registration 3 times, still not working.

It has cost me a lot of time.

I am completely stuck. And I am not the only person who are facing this problem.

Could ATO offer a effective way to solve this issue? Thanks!

Oh, I see what you mean.

How long has it been since you registered? Once you've completed the foreign investor registration, you may have to wait 5 business days for the info to be processed.

Please try again after the 5 business days and you should be smooth sailing.

Hello officer,


It has been 10 business days since completed the foreign investor registration.

I also have made many phone calls to ATO, and they didn't find any issue in my registration, and are also unable to figure out the problem.


This problem cannot be solved and I am not able to access Online services for foreign investors System.


Could you advise that

  1. if I (non-PR resident but with long-term visa) must register new owner-occupied main residential property to ATO ? (I am living in it)
  2. If yes, how could I do this under current situation?

I just wonder if you are be able to solve the issues? I am having exactly the issues and I am unable to access the online service to complete my vacancy tax return. I can't complete the one- off registration, it never work at all.

Possible Solution:

  1. Register myGovID App on your iPhone
  2. Log in myGOV by "Sign in Digital identify" using myGovID App
  3. Link your ATO account to myGOV (call ATO for linking code)
  4. Keep it ,and open a new website of "Online Online services for foreign investors"
  5. You should be able to log in and matched.
