This is a tricky one to answer because we don't know what's on your return. There is a good chance that your returns are correct and you can't take someone else's outcome as evidence that you should have got a refund. Everyone's tax lodgements are unique and specific to the person lodging them.
If you believe you have truly missed something in your return I would suggest contacting a tax professional to get a second opinion.
