Hi

so I was ringing to check the progress of my compassionate release like I’ve done multiple times before but this time my phone went through a very weird glitch and suddenly my call was answered. The ATO person proceeded to ask for my details to verify my identity like they normally do but this time they asked if I’ve worked for more than 3 years and the name of my employer, then my Medicare card details and tried to ask for my drivers licence number. This was very new to me because I’ve called multiple times before and went through the voice print section no dramas. Prior to this call the only identity questions I would get asked was my full name and date of birth and address. I thought it was odd they were asking for my Medicare and drivers licence. I gave him one digit wrong of my Medicare card which he picked up but also he didn’t seem to properly notify me that he couldn’t verify me just based on my full name and date of birth as others have done before. He tried to ask for my drivers licence details twice which I changed the subject and I tried to ask him for my application ID but there were long quiet pauses inbetween his responses it immediately felt suspicious. I’m just not sure if my call was hacked or if ATO actually ask for Medicare and drivers licence details to verify customers?
