I'm a secondary public sector highschool teacher.

I have purchased a second pair of earphones for at school (90% work use), these are mostly used for mandatory professional learning sessions which are online. I also use them for marking electronically submitted work and for planning lessons that require media content when in an office full of other staff that need the quiet.

Seeing as what I am using them for directly relates to my job requirements and ability to earn money(planning marking, mandatory Professional learning) would I be able to claim any of my earphones expenses? They are $299

Hi @Noots

Given your explanation it is highly likely you would be able to claim the business use portion of the headphones.

A test I like to apply in this situation is “would your supervisor/principal verify that you are required to have them for your role?”

If the answer is YES you are generally in the clear.
