i had a payment plan to pay off $800 of outstanding tax. I had just $200 outstanding balance when I had to go overseas and missed to credit my account with the payment by a day. The original outstanding of $200 was paid the same day but now I can see that ATO has charged a dishonour fee of $200 ($100 twice for missing two payments in that fortnight I was away). Which means I am still in a debt of $200.

Is there a way I can request a waive of this fee as I did pay my outstanding asap. Thanks.

Hi there @aks55

We don't charge dishonour fees, so it sounds like the payment went through and then bounced resulting in an underpayment.

It's hard to say without looking at your account, but if the payment was dishonoured you should see a credit for the payment on your account and then a debit for the same amount.

In other words, the payment gets added to your account and then deleted if the bank dishonours it.
