Hi, My son is studying a four year degree as an international student at university in the UK and Germany. He lives in accommodation provided by the universities (halls of residence) during term time and outside of these times he either travels home to Australia, stays with family in the UK or travels within Europe. Is he able to maintain his Australian Tax Resident status whilst he is away? TIA

Hi @PawsUp

It'll depend. Your son will need to be able to meet on of the statutory tests that determines his residency status.

He may be able to retain his Australian Tax Residency status under the Domicile test.
