Hello,

I am currently working on a part-time basis while pursuing a master's degree in the field related to my current role.

Based on the previous questions asked in the community such as below, I should be able to claim the deduction for my tuition that I paid while I was employed.

However, my tuition was covered not only by my current earnings but also by my savings from my previous role in another country.

What would happen if my assessable income with the current role is lower than my self-education expenses deduction?

Thanks!

Hi @bluewaves,

Looks like you've done your research! If you end up with more deductions than income, you'll simply have a 0 taxable income for that year.

Thank you for your reply!

Does a 0 taxable income mean that I don't have any income tax liability, which means if I claim a tax return, I should be able to get the refund for the amount I already paid for this year?

Sorry - I am not really familiar with the system here yet.

Thank you!
