I am on an annual salary of $75K inc super, tax & STSL. I started this job on 15th March and have just got my first payslip (dated 18 March - 30 April). When providing my tax declaration, I claimed tax-free threshold.

My tax deduction was $2,076.00 & STSL deduction $498.00 for this period. Net pay $5,737.89.

I’m not sure if this is correct, I had tried to use Pay Calculator but that came up with tax/STSL deductions at much lower rates to what was on my payslip so I’m a bit confused.

Have I paid the correct tax/STSL amounts?

Hi @isobellahayes

That looks correct. I recommend taking a look at the Tax Withheld Calculator on our website.

It looks like you had a gross monthly pay of $8,311 (ignoring cents). Selecting yes to both:

  • Tax-Free Threshold and,
  • Study and Training Support Loan debt

gives the result you described.
