Hi,

I was mistaken and ticked 'no' when being asked if i want to claim the tax-free threshold. I'm only working for one organisation only and my estimated yearly income is less then 18k dollars. Does this matter (am I taxed more than I should be)?

Hi @January

That's fine but you'll have more tax withheld than necessary in this situation.

You can leave it as is if you want to and a tax return should see it refunded at the end of the financial year.

The other option is to submit a withholding declaration. You can use that to change the TFN declaration type details with your employer. If your expected income is below the tax-free threshold, there shouldn't be tax payable at the end of year tax return.
