Hello, I am not an Australian citizen but I currently live in Australia with a student visa I have a small (physical) business that in the future can be managed without having to be present, I wanted to know if you can maintain a business without a work visa and living outside Australia, my main idea is when my visa ends up leaving the business with an employee and residing outside Australia and I wanted to know if it was possible, thank you
Hello @Fudel,
You can run an Australian business from outside the country. The main thing to understand is that depending on the structure of your business you may have other obligations that you'll have to meet. You may want to consider getting professional advice.
Also if your business is under your sole trader ABN you have to realise that you'll be taxed as a foreign resident once you no longer meet the residency requirements. This means a higher tax rate for all the income you earn in the business.
