The ATO issued me a cheque for my last tax return, which I did from France. I went to my bank to cash it, but it was unpaid and returned to me, with a motive like "No Payment, Australia has stopped compensating paper". How can I get my tax return in my account?

Hi @samclz,

Nope!

You've got the option to request the cheque to be cancelled and the money transferred to your bank account instead.

Hello @Samclz,

We only pay refunds electronically to Australian bank accounts and as a last resort we'll use cheque.

If your local bank won't assist you can consider getting in touch with an Australian tax agent and nominate them to receive your refund then they can forward to you electronically.

You can search the register here for a tax agent.
