I have had HECS repayments deducted from my income for this financial year and as far as I can tell these wont be reflected in my HECS balance until I submit 23/24 tax return.

However, I need to know my real time balance now so that I can pay the remainder out at the request of my lending institution, before they will approve finance of my home loan.

I tried calling ATO and following prompts but basically the phone message says they're too busy at this time and wont answer that query.

Additionally, once I pay the remaining balance I need proof that it is zero.

How can I go about getting this information asap?

Hi @Stormy_

The 'real balance' is what's showing in your ATO Online account. None of the tax you've been pre-paying for your expected compulsory repayment is applied to your HELP loan until you lodge your return.

If you're able to pay off your balance now, you'll be refunded the tax you've overpaid when you lodge your return.

Hi @Stormy_

Once you've lodged your return and paid the balance, you can log into your ATO services in your myGov account and click "print friendly version" on your HELP statement of account to print a statement showing your balance is now $0.

Thanks @VeLo but I need it now, cant wait for EOFY. Hence needing the actual as at today balance, not balance from EOFY 22/23, so I can pay the real balance due. Any other suggestions?
