Good day ,

My name [Removed by moderator]

DOB: [Removed by moderator]

Nationality : [Removed by moderator]

Tax number : [Removed by moderator]

I’m Ukrainian and working on the vessel in Australia on visa 400. My Australian company GO Offshore pay me salary to oversee account and I’m living in Ukraine not in AU.

I getting salary when I’m on board and when I’m at home in Ukraine .

In that hard time I’m supporting from my salary Ukrainian solders as well and paying Tax in Ukraine to support our military.

Why I need to pay tax when I’m on board - I’m not resident , I’m not using any social programs and insurance, I’m living on vessel then going to direct to my home in Ukraine . Also why my days off taxable when I’m out of Australia and staying in Ukraine ?

Can I get tax free as Ukrainian seamen ?

In this difficult time each sent very helpful and important for me.

Is it possible to get back in end off tax year all money which was taken from my wage?

Hope to get an answer from your side and hope Government /ATO can give me a tax exemption in my bad situation.

Kind regards

Hi @Vladimir15

If you're not an Australian resident for taxation purposes your Australian employer won't have any Australian tax or super obligations. This means they shouldn't be withholding tax. You can check this further info out on our article What remote working means for your tax return.

Yes, if you've paid more tax then what you should. you should receive a refund.

Firstly, talk with your employer and show them this info.

Let me know how you go.
