If you prepare and lodge your tax return as a tax resident then your tax liability will be at normal marginal tax rates, plus there will be a tax free threshold. The tax withheld from your earnings will be used to pay for the assessed tax liability on your income. Any excess will be refunded back to you.

As a tax resident the Medicare levy will apply (depending on income). You may be exempt from the levy. Check what you need to do.
