I have been sent a request to fill in the super guarantee form even though the super in question has now been paid. The form is asking for super owing from June 2023 which was paid in Dec 2023. It then works out interest owing from June 2023 to May 2024. I would have thought that the interest owing should only be upto Dec 2023. While I accept the penalty for paying late (ie June to Dec), I don't think it is fair that I am paying for a period of time that is not relevant (Dec to May) and seeing as I use the ATO Clearing House for my super payments, they have all the information already.

Hi @SimShar

The nominal interest will continue to accrue up until the date you lodge the SGC statement. Don't delay.

Thanks but you didn’t answer the question. Why does the interest accrue from the date you lodge the form and not from the date that you paid the super?
