Hi guys,

Today I am leaving Australia. My visa (temporary work) expires on Sunday. Moreover, I have previously had a working holiday visa (417).

I plan to come back in July/August on my second working holiday visa.

Am I able to take out my superannuation, without it affecting my second working holiday application? Despite the heavy tax, I could do with the money for issues in my home country/family.

If yes, will this affect my plan to stay permanently in the future?

Kindest regards,

Liam

Hey @Liamshuker,

Some good news here is that you can claim a Departing Australia Superannuation Payment (DASP) if you’ve been on a temporary work visa and you meet all of the other criteria.

Doing this shouldn’t affect new visa applications if you’re returning to Australia later on, but you should ask your super fund if there are any conditions on opening a new account for your next working holiday visa.

Claiming a DASP also won't impact your ability to stay here permanently down the track.
