Hi,

I no longer have my old Australian mobile number that my original MyGov account was connected to so I can’t log in to MyGov. I also can’t remember my TFN. My first question is do I need to know my TFN to create a new myGov account? Also if I create a new account will all my original details be in the new account ie TFN?

Thanks in advance.

Hi @Jules114

Sure can! Our contact page has all our numbers. You'll want to use Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS National). Let them know the interpreter needed and then ask for ATO Individual enquiries.

We'll need to verify you when you call. Please be as prepared as possible for some privacy questions. We don't want to give the wrong TFN to the wrong person.

Hi @Jules114,

You don't need your TFN to create a myGov account, but you'll need it when you try to link your myGov account to us.

Once you've linked the ATO to your myGov account, you'll have access to all those details again, including your TFN.

Check out the steps for When you can't sign in to your myGov account.

If none of those steps work you'll need to Create a myGov account and link it to the ATO.

We also have a guide on how to find your lost TFN.

Thank you so much for your help. One more question. I can’t access my TFN through any of those other options ie super account so last resort will be contacting ato to ask what my tfn is. What’s the best number to call from outside Australia and is it possible to have a translator on the call as I don’t speak a lot of English. Thank you.
