I am trying to start my tax return and I get the message:


Permission required

You don't have permission to access the specified service.

Error code: access_denied


I am not aware of any identity theft or hacking as suggested in previous answers. I called up, but the wait online was huge and can't manage that in a work day. What are my best options?

Hi there @poemsandfists


Give this a go:

  • try clearing your cache and cookies in your web browser
  • try a different browser
  • try a different device

If this doesn't work then you may need to unlink and re-link ATO to myGov.
