Hello,

I have tried mulitple times to link to MyGov to ATO. I haven't had much luck trying to match my bank records or super as it doesnt match the records in ATO and all those other selections ( Centrelink payment summary, dividend statement, notice of assessment and PAYG payment summary as I dont have these.

Is it because I have only come to Australia in January 2024 and ATO has no records yet other than my TFN?

So I ended up trying the linking code option and tried to call the number, it appears the ATO is clogged up with request so each time I try to call, it just drops off after going thru the choices.

Hopefully ATO can help

Thanks everyone

Hi @COOLAZ,

You won't be able to link without a linking code as we get a lot of the info (like your bank details) from your tax returns.

So, you have 2 options:

  1. Keep trying to call for a linking code as LeeKD suggested, or
  2. Lodge your return another way and link at a later date.

Hi there. Your best bet is to keep calling the ATO. They will be able to give you a linking code over the phone. Unfortunately, that may mean multiple unanswered phone calls. Keep trying.

Lots of people are having trouble linking their MyGov account with the ATO. It's an ongoing problem.
