Hi,

I'm having trouble linking to ATO online services from MyGov. I'm getting the message "Your digital identity doesn't meet the required credential strength." I've already installed and set up the myGovID app. I'm a permanent resident, but because I'm not a citizen, it's affecting my identity strength.

The same happens when I use the ATO app.

is there any way to fix this and have access to my ATO?

Thanks

If you've set up a myGovID you will need to login using the digital identity login options for myGov, not using your email/password.

To try I would recommend using the my.gov.au website when logging in scroll down the page to find the digital identity login option and follow the prompts via that option.

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate it.

As you mentioned, to log in to MyGov, I should scroll down on the first page and select the digital identity login option.

Thanks again.

Hi there, take a look at the following instructions:

Create a myGov account and link it to the ATO

It's important to note that myGov (the my.gov.au website) and the myGovID app are separate things.

To access ATO online services, you will have to create an account on the my.gov.au website. You can login to the my.gov.au website by using either:

  • Email and password, plus SMS verification; or
  • myGovID app with 'standard' or 'strong' identity strength.

After setting up your account on my.gov.au, you can then link ATO online services to your my.gov.au account. You will be asked some verification questions to link your account automatically. If this doesn't work, you'll need to call the ATO to get a linking code.

Once this is done, you will be able to access ATO online services via the my.gov.au website.
