Hello,

I have been trying to lodge my tax return but I have encountered some difficulties.

I have started the taxable year as a Working Holiday Maker but I’m now under a subsequent student visa (class 500).

my employer lodged the claim in which it appears that I am not under a WHV anymore (which is correct), but I was at the time of the first 6 months of the taxable year.

how should I fix up my returns to declare the right amount of taxes?

thank you for your help

No error messages. I have just noticed that my income appears under one visa type and I am afraid to lodge it because, during the taxable year, I was under two different visas while working.

mu employer said I’m not on a WHV but for the first six months of the taxable year I was.

Hi @Serena1998,

Ok, thanks for the extra info 😃

If you were an Australian resident for tax purposes for part of the financial year.

Still answer ‘yes’ to the question ‘Are you an Australian resident for tax purposes?’

You’ll then enter the date your tax residency changed and how many months you were an Australian tax resident at question A2.

@TamaraATO

I was an Australian resident for the whole taxable year.

But until December 2023 I was under a Working Holiday Visa (417). From January 2024 onwards I changed into a Subsequent Student Visa (500).

Since those two visas have different tax percentages what should I declare? Should I split something or just based on the payslips the tax will be correct?
