Hi There,

I am wishing to consider salary sacrificing some of my pre-tax salary into superannuation and pre-tax salary sacrifice a novated car lease, as my employer offers this avenue.

My worry is, if i commit to these, to try and recover myself financially, and help my future before retiring. That if I do these, the child support payments I make, wont change, and I will be living on less of a take home afte tax salary, which could make it challenging to live week to week.

(note: the ex is doing more than fine, even if the child support payments reduced, she just wont sign anything to reduce or cease payments. just a tad vindictive unfortunately).

Your help with clarifying if pre-tax salary sacrificing will effect child support payments or not would be appreciated, as even legal websites have visited have conflicting statements.

Hi @Dickmoohan,

Sure, we can help you find that info.

As child support payment are handled by Services Australia, you're best to discuss this with them 😀

Salary sacrificing is better known to us as 'Reportable fringe benefits' and these are used to work out your child support payments.
