I received my assessment back and it’s as a cheque which I know nothing about. Previously I have gotten it to my bank account. Where do I go from here to actually receive my refund?

In order to receive money from a cheque, you will need to go to a bank branch (for who you bank with) with the cheque and tell them you would like to deposit it. Some banks also allow you to deposit cheques using an ATM, but probably easiest if you go to a teller.
