How should Itinerate travel be tracked?
My job requires me to multiple different sites every day to do work. The sites are normally not the same and I go to many sites on any given day. So based on this, I believe it qualifies as itinerate travel.
However, it is quite hard to keep track of my travel, is there any lenience for this and I can make reasonable estimates? Or do I need to keep an accurate record of my travel like a travel diary?

A travel diary is a good way. What are you looking to do though, are you intending to claim work-related travel expenses? It depends on the method you intend to use, you can keep a log-book if necessary. Check out claiming a trip for more info.
